Can't be Roy Buchanan - he sadly hang himself in that cell in 1988,much later than this recording (from about '79-'80).Jim could also be Morrison, if you think there's a connection between Roky's words and famous dead people...I sure wouldn't mind get to know who he's talking about though! While at it, how about the 'claim' that Janis Joplin supposedly took Roky's screaming technique while singing with him for one or more occasions with the 13th Floor Elevators , which some say she did?

Pffft! Pollard is so overrated. Okay, maybe that's not fair because I do like the recorded material I've heard. But when I saw GBV in San Diego a few years ago they sucked so bad I walked out. The guy was drunk and obnoxious. I swear to god he sounded like a spoiled frat boy. At least the Pogues can hold their liquor (for the most part). On the other hand, I saw Roky last Friday on Halloween and he was great.

I agree, I think that it's somewhat convoluted to reduce human behavior to an over simplified sexuality. This video should be studied as a way to understand enjoyment of people, rather than to parrot this man as a way to further the objectification of women. That said, it's good that people are interested in sexuality, even if the angle they are approaching it from is a little disrespectable.

Let me just start out by saying you are fortunate, as I am sure you know to have been able to learn from this man. I got my hypnosis certification training around 4 years ago and it was all based on Ericksonian techniques. Since I have been fascinated by his work as well as yours. This sounds like the same performances, but a different mix, than the 1980 "The Evil One". Great, great album. The other songs don't generally have the same verse over and over again like this. And personally I like the crisp eighties sound - a lot of Roky fans seem to prefer him raw and indie-sounding. And electric autoharp - yumm! Man, I didn't expect to be hypnotized just by watching this. I just wanted to watch the technique. But I found myself relaxing, and then my hand was floating in the air. And like birthdayblonde said, when he snapped his finger, I jerked awake. I'd been hypnotized before, but I didn't know I was so susceptible. Erickson was a genius. The Explosives are gretaness - used to see them at The Crossroads in Nacogdoches, Tx. all thetime, and corresponded with drummer Freddie Krc for a while many years later. Cam King (guitarist seen here) is one of the finest rock/rock a billy pickers, and also a great singer. With bassist Waller Collie, these guys made memories for me and so many others - got me thru the early 80's when there was so much shit music being churned out ! Thanks GUys !
